I have gained a wealth of knowledge in the construction industry. I have also learned a bit about the fluctuations and how to handle them better. I’ve always desired to have the best team, best vehicles, best uniforms, best environment & best tools to complete each job in the field and in the office. Now I don’t say that naively, I say that because it gives me a goal to strive for and if your team feels that the goal is excellence, they strive for it as well and enjoy working here.

“Your Worth is Not Based on Your Performance” We tend to place too much weight on what we do and not who we are. They are two very different things. Character and integrity is doing the right thing when no one is looking even if it means no gain at that moment.
When are you happiest?
I am happiest when my family is happy and healthy, our business is doing well, and my kids are getting along. ?

Sales Manager
Tony Gover
Company role & years of experience at Blue Ribbon Roofing and/or other companies:
I have been with Blue Ribbon Roofing as the Sales Manager for over 4 years. I have a total of 7 years experience in the roofing industry and over 25 years experience as a Sales Manager.
What does your average day look like?
I take incoming sales calls and turn them into prospects and eventually into happy customers. I get the agreement signed, schedule the work with the homeowner and the crew, oversee the job, inspect the job, collect payment, follow up with the homeowner, and get everyone paid (including myself).
What are the values that drive you at work?
Honesty and integrity. I also think of empathy as maybe the greatest value of all. It is so in the workplace, understanding another persons circumstance and perspective. And it is so with our customers. For example, it is very common in the roofing business to come across an elderly person on a fixed income. They have very little money and a worn out roof that is leaking. To help that person file an insurance claim, meet with their adjuster, help them through the whole process, and get them a new quality roof with very little money out of their pocket, that is an amazing feeling. The smile, gratitude, and happy tears in their eyes, makes it all worth the work. Even though it is only a $5000 roof, it is more rewarding than that $20,000 roof. Maybe not so much in your wallet, but in your heart. That is empathy.
What do you do during your free time / or tell us about your family / or something along those lines?
I have a beautiful wife that I have been married to now for twenty years. We have 2 kids and 7 grandkids. I spend my time with my family and with christian activities. My wife, Suzanne, is 7 years younger than me. I always tell everyone that getting her to marry me was the best sale I made in my whole life. LOL. And it’s true.
What do you like about the culture at Blue Ribbon Roofing? (or) What keeps you at Blue Ribbon?
The owners of Blue Ribbon Roofing have the same values as I do. They are very supportive. I never have to worry about being asked to do something dishonest to make an extra dollar. They would not stand for it. And neither would I. We always seem to be on the same sheet of music when it comes to the job or new ideas. For example, the owner came up with the idea of going all in on a great new website. We both feel like the extra money it costs will be well spent. That we will get it back in new sales. That is if the website ever gets finished. LOL. Also, at Blue Ribbon, the owners have always provided me with everything I need to be successful.
What have you gained from working at Blue Ribbon?
If you are unhappy with your job and hate to go to work, you will be a miserable person. You hate Sunday nights because you know you have to go to work the next morning. If your job is just ok, you may be happy, but probably not very. But if you LOVE your job, and love God, you will truly be a very happy person. I already loved God, but now I love my job also. So I guess you could say I have gained happiness from working at Blue Ribbon Roofing.
What is your superpower?
My superpower is first my faith. Then humor, empathy, and gaining the confidence of someone quickly.
If you were to write a self-help book, what would it be called?
“Controlling Your Mood By Controlling Your Thoughts.”
When are you happiest?
I am happiest when I am giving my first fruits to God. Then everything else falls into place.
