Roofers Insurance Claim Process

HERE TO HELP YOU WEATHER THE STORM

The Fayetteville area is home to all types of weather with severe conditions threatening the exterior of your home. High winds, hail, a heavy snowfall or a major rainstorm can damage your roof, leading to the need for an emergency repair or a roof replacement–and a tiring insurance process.

Thankfully, if your roof is damaged and you decide to move forward with a claim, Blue Ribbon Roofing is here to help! As an insured roofing contractor, we are well versed in filing an insurance claim and have the experience and integrity to guide you through the entire process. You can count on us to be there for you every step of the way to answer any questions, explain procedures and offer clarification when you need it.

Here’s how the insurance claim process works.

Step One: Roof Inspection

At Blue Ribbon, we offer a free roof inspection. We will fully inspect your roof for any damage and take pictures of our findings as documentation. Following the inspection, we’ll sit down with you, go over our findings and advise you of your options. If the inspection indicates there is enough damage to file a claim, we’ll walk you through the process.

Step Two: Meet With Insurance Adjuster

After a claim is filed with your insurance carrier, its insurance adjuster will contact you within 24 to 48 hours to schedule an appointment to inspect your roof’s damage. Once you have the date and time of this inspection locked in, contact Blue Ribbon. We will make ourselves available for that inspection in case you or the adjustor needs us. If you would like, we are more than willing to meet the adjuster at your house to go over our findings.

Step Three: Approval of Claim & Fixing Your Roof

Once the claim is approved, you will receive the insurance company’s assessment. This report is usually about 10 pages long and may be difficult for you to understand. This is where you’ll be especially happy to have Blue Ribbon on your side. A trained specialist from our team will meet with you and go over the report, page by page, to make sure you understand everything.

Step Four: Fixing Your Roof

At the same time your claim is approved, you will receive your first check, which is usually about 50% to 70% of the total claim. Your insurance company will send you the final payment once they have confirmation that the job is completed. Blue Ribbon will agree, in writing, to replace your roof for what the insurance company pays, plus your deductible. The only thing that comes out of your pocket will be your deductible.

To start the job, we require a 50% deposit, which should be covered by the first check you receive from the insurance company. Once we receive this, our roofing contractors will get to work.

Upon job completion, Blue Ribbon will provide the insurance company with the necessary paperwork to get your final check released to you. This paperwork usually consists of a certificate of completion and a copy of the invoice showing what you paid for the roof.

Step Five: Payment

While we require a 50% deposit to begin working on your roof, we don’t require final payment until the job is completed. In the case of an insurance claim, we will wait until you receive your final payment from your insurance company to collect our final payment.

Let’s Raise Your Roof Together

Blue Ribbon Roofing is committed to standing by your side through the insurance claim process at no charge. However, we are making an investment in you and hope that you, in turn, will make an investment in us by trusting us to perform your roof replacement or repair.

Will my homeowner’s insurance cover a roof replacement in North Carolina?

Whether homeowner’s insurance covers a roof replacement in North Carolina depends on the cause of the damage — not just the extent of it.

Coverage is typically approved for:

  • Hail damage
  • Wind and hurricane damage
  • Damage from falling trees or limbs
  • Lightning strikes
  • Other sudden, accidental events named in your policy

Coverage is typically denied for:

  • Normal aging and wear and tear
  • Damage resulting from lack of maintenance or neglect
  • Pre-existing conditions present before your current policy

If you are unsure whether your damage qualifies, call Blue Ribbon Roofing first. We will inspect your roof, document the damage thoroughly, and give you an honest assessment of whether you have a strong basis for a claim before you involve your insurance company.

What should I do immediately after storm damage to my roof in Fayetteville, NC?

If your roof has sustained storm damage in Fayetteville, NC, take these steps in order:

Step 1:Stay safe. Do not attempt to climb onto your roof. Leave all damage assessment to trained professionals.

Step 2: Document from the ground. If it is safe to do so, take photos or video of any visible damage to shingles, gutters, siding, or other exterior areas.

Step 3: Check your attic. Look for signs of water intrusion — wet insulation, new staining on wood framing, or active dripping.

Step 4: Call Blue Ribbon Roofing at 910-483-7663. We will schedule a free professional inspection and create a full photographic record of the damage — critical for supporting your insurance claim.

Step 5: Report to your insurance company. Once we have confirmed the nature and extent of the damage, we will help you determine the right way to proceed with your insurer.

Acting quickly is important. Delaying after storm damage allows water to work deeper into your home’s structure, potentially converting a manageable repair into a much more expensive problem. Learn how our insurance claim process works →

Does Blue Ribbon Roofing work directly with insurance adjusters?

Yes. Blue Ribbon Roofing regularly works alongside insurance adjusters on behalf of our clients. Once you file a claim and your insurance carrier schedules an adjuster visit — typically within 24 to 48 hours of filing — contact us and we will make ourselves available to be present at your home during that inspection.

Having our team present during the adjuster’s visit serves you in two important ways. First, we can present our findings alongside the adjuster’s assessment to ensure nothing is missed or undervalued. Second, we can speak the same technical language as the adjuster, which helps prevent misunderstandings about the scope of damage.

After the claim is approved, we will meet with you and review the insurance company’s assessment report together, page by page, until you fully understand what is being covered and what the next steps are. Contact us to get started →

What if my roof insurance claim is denied?

If your roof insurance claim is denied, do not assume the decision is final. Insurance claim denials can sometimes be appealed, especially if the denial is based on insufficient documentation or a misclassification of the damage.

First — Request a written explanation of the denial from your insurance company. You are entitled to know the specific reason your claim was not approved.

Second — Call Blue Ribbon Roofing at 910-483-7663. We will review your situation, re-inspect your roof if needed, and help you understand whether additional documentation or a formal appeal is a viable option.

Third — Consider requesting a re-inspection. In some cases, having a second adjuster visit — with proper documentation from our team — results in a different outcome.

While we are not attorneys and cannot provide legal advice, we have helped many Fayetteville homeowners navigate difficult claims situations. We are on your side throughout this process. Reach out to our team today →
